On Tito Square, you'll find beautiful palaces, the city tower, and the cathedral. From the top of the city tower, you can enjoy views of the square, Koper, and the surrounding area or you can admire the square over a coffee at one of the oldest cafes in Slovenia.
Throughout history, the square has had various names until 1946 when it was named after Marshal Tito, the former president of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Later, it was renamed Republic Square, and then in 1956, it was renamed Tito Square again.
