Križanke, the former monastery of the German Order of the Teutonic Knights dating back to the 13th century, became the central cultural venue of Ljubljana after renovation by architect Jože Plečnik between 1952 and 1956. Today, it is known for its summer open-air theatre, which can accommodate 1400 visitors.
This theatre regularly hosts concerts of various genres and events as part of the Ljubljana Festival, contributing to the lively cultural scene of the city during the summer months.
