Today's uniquely shaped Lake Bled is not merely a product of chance. Once, there existed a tectonic basin at this location, which was sculpted over millennia by the Bohinj glacier. A large rock stood in the glacier's path, which it diligently polished until the present-day island in the lake was formed. When the ice melted, the basin filled with water, creating the lake that now delights divers with its depth, reaching up to 30 meters in some parts.
Lake Bled hosts diverse wildlife, including 19 different species of fish such as carp, catfish, and lake trout, while also providing refuge for mallard ducks and swans, surrounded by a rich variety of plants.
